Anthropology
is the study of humanity in all its cultural diversity. The broad
concerns of anthropology are with culture the meaning people
create and share to make sense of their conditions of life. There
are four sub-fields of anthropology:
ethnology (cultural anthropology)
biological anthropology (the
relationship of social life and culture to our physical beings)
archaeology (the study of past
cultures)
linguistics (the study of language)
The anthropologists at Northeastern specialize in cultural anthropology
and social anthropology the relationship of culture to the
institutions, interpersonal relations and practices that make up
their social structure.
