21st Century Scholarship
The 21st Century Scholarships are funded by the gifts of Arts and Sciences alumni who are interested in helping students with their college expenses. They are also interested in promoting experiential education opportunities and mentoring. Eligible College of Arts & Sciences freshmen are invited to apply.

The award is $5,000 per year for sophomore through senior years. Recipients will be eligible for an additional $5,000 experiential education fellowship to pursue an intellectual project full-time under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

Each recipient will be introduced to the alumni donor who has funded his/her scholarship. Donors will meet the recipients at least once per year and will also provide mentoring. For more information, please contact Cara Veilleux in the Dean's office at c.veilleux@neu.edu or (617) 373-6073.

Alice S. Ayling and Charles Irwin Travelli Scholarships
The Alice S Ayling and Charles Irwin Travelli Scholarship have provided numerous awards to Northeastern University students for over 50 years. Each year these scholarships are granted to students who maintain above average grades, demonstrate financial need, participate in extracurricular activities and display good campus citizenship.

The Ayling Foundation and the Travelli Fund prefer to make long-term commitments to recipients and generally give preference to nominees who are in their second year of study at the University. These awards comprise substantial financial assistance. Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships
Goldwater Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit to students who will be full-time middlers or juniors in the forthcoming academic year and who have outstanding potential for careers in mathematics or the natural sciences. To be eligible for scholarship consideration, students must be full-time sophomores or middlers (the year between sophomore and junior year in NU's five-year programs) pursuing degrees in mathematics or the natural sciences, have at least 3.0 quality point averages, and be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals.

The Goldwater Award is a highly competitive, national scholarship awarded to approximately 100 students across the nation each year. Eligible students in the College of Arts and Sciences will be notified and invited to apply for the scholarship in late fall. For more information, please contact the Honors Program.

CEA Scholarship Opportunities
The College of Arts & Sciences' Center for Experiential Education and Academic Advising (CEA) established the CEA-Way Scholarship to encourage students to pursue experiential education opportunities beyond co-op. The CEA-Way Scholarship provides funding support to CAS students pursuing a range of experiential projects, including community service, internships, field work, international volunteerism, artistic performance, research, and others that relate to their classroom studies, but may or may not be directly connected to them. CEA-Way projects must be pursued under the mentorship of a faculty member (who also receive an honorarium) and awards are based on budgetary needs, up to $1000.

The CEA Co-op Grant provides funding for students in high quality, academically relevant co-op jobs that are low or non-paying. We feel that students should be encouraged to consider all options in pursuing a good co-op experience and this grant is intended to reduce some of the financial restrictions preventing them from doing so. This is a competitive grant and we usually receive about ten applications for each grant awarded. Winners often are going out of state or out of country for their co-ops, working with non-profit organizations, working in multiple positions, or working at a highly unique company that matches their interests perfectly. The CEA Co-op Grant is for six month co-ops only and recipients receive $5000 in pay over the course of their co-op.

Dr. Carl F. Muckenhoupt Scholarship
The Muckenhoupt Scholarship is awarded annually to upperclass and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in the sciences or math and who expect to use their training in science to benefit the environment of the earth and the life upon it. The scholarship is administered by the geology department. Faculty in the life and physical sciences will nominate students.

Harry S. Truman Scholarships
Truman Scholarships are awarded on merit to students who have demonstrated interest in public service and an outstanding potential for leadership in government. To be eligible for scholarship consideration, students must be full-time matriculated juniors presently pursuing degrees and have at least 3.5 quality point averages. Additionally, students must be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals and have selected an undergraduate field that will permit admission to a graduate program leading to careers in public service. The Truman Scholarship is a highly competitive, national award. Eligible students in the College of Arts and Sciences will be notified by the Political Science department and invited to apply for the scholarship. Hodgkinson Award
Each year at least two students from the entire graduating class are chosen as Hodgkinson scholars and receive a substantial cash award. Recipients have excellent records in extracurricular activities, either at NU or in the community, and demonstrate outstanding ability through co-op work or other outside achievements.

Recipients also possess qualities of leadership, character and personality. Eligible students (usually those ranking among the top 35 in the graduating class) are nominated by the dean's office. Winners are chosen by a committee of academic deans or their representatives.
